C.H.ronicles Collective Hallucination's show at Legend's Jazz Cafe' this past Saturday night was great. So great in fact, the band was asked to come back at least once a month and do their thing. The building was packed to the walls, standing room only, literally!! New comer Iisha, (a diamond in the rough), kicked the show off with the band's rendition of the Erykah Badu hit "Love of My Life" then segued into Ledisi's "Think Of You" with former CH member Ajah handling lead chores on this tune. The band performed songs from their own catalog of hits and a number of well chosen cover tunes including Al Green's "One Of These Good Old Days". The band closed the first set with a rousing rendition of the Alicia Keys' hit "No One" which had the audience clapping, cheering and singing along. The second set, which included Ms. Butler, Jamila and Smurk handling vocal duties kicked into high gear from jump. The band opened with an accapella version of "Proud Mary". The audience was on it's feet by the time the band got to the Rufus and Chaka Khan hit "You Got The Love" Ms. Butler's rousing rendition of "Between You and Me", (a CH original), had the audience in awe. By the time the song was over everyone was on their feet screaming for more. The band closed the set with an old school/new school medley which included "We're Not That Different" (CH), Bag Lady (Erykah Badu), Mothership Connection, (Parliament), I Want To Take You Higher, (Sly Stone), Living For The City, (Stevie Wonder) and I'll Take You There, (The Staple Singers). The night ended on an even higher note as Sheer Essence took the stage and wowed the crowd with their ever too tight rhythm section and on point vocals. This is a band to watch out for. The ladies are raw right now, but trust this writer, their time is coming soon. The night was so successful for Legend's itself, you can look for more of a CH relationship with the Cafe' as more shows are being scheduled... Stay tuned.... This is a quick clip to remind those of you who haven't seen us in a while why we're the best. It's a great tune that would be perfect for the Democratic National Party, (Clinton, Obama one of ya'll need to get with us). Our former bandmate Shay Renee' handles all vocals on the song. Lead, background and Ad Libs are all performed by Shay!! She's such a wonderful singer. Can't wait for ya'll to hear it.
