26th October, 2009. 3:09 pm. Music and Love

I have long been a lover of music and it just grows daily..Lately I've rediscovered my undying love for rap groups Public Enemy and EPMD among a few others as I've been playing their early music over and over and over..

I thank GOD for leading me down the path I've taken and I am looking forward to continuing to break ground with Collective Hallucination!

As we prepare to focus on twenty ten and the many changes that are taking place I'm please to let everyone know that starting early next year we're gonna get some help from PR Professionals and Ms. Lady Oliver with our public relations...

I'm also getting ready to sign a couple of acts to my label with releases due next year! Great things are happening. Deep down I'm sad that I'm not able to share the imminent success with my good friend and brother Brian Baldwin aka B-Funk. B-Funk and I shared a lot of tears, dreams, hopes and fears. We spent a lot of time talking and planning for the future. Brian left to pursue other things, (he's currently playing bass for an awesome band called Falling North), and he's getting ready to get married October 2010!! I wish my man well..

As the band progresses and prepares for the jam that's about to come we'd like to tell everyone to strap themselves in...it's gonna be a RIDE!!!

25th October, 2009. 5:13 pm. The Evolution Of Collective Hallucination featuring Ant Boogie..

evolution n. A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form.

Through the years, (10 to be exact), Collective Hallucination has taken on many forms and has definately explored many sounds..I could never say what period was the best or worse as it has always and will continue to be a learning experience for me. I will openly admit though, the 3 years B-Funk was in the band had to be the most fun!! B-Funk was that baby brother I never had who helped me stay grounded and even helped me with my band leader temper. Ask any bandleader what I mean by "band leader temper" and they'll tell you.

I love to surround myself with the best musicians, vocalist, rappers etc that I possibly could. That makes me a better musician, writer, player, producer etc. And I know I'm no Ernie Isley by a long shot on guitar, but I can definately hold my own on stage.

I don't like to place Collective Hallucination into a category cause that would hurt. Collective Hallucination has explored every genre of music including jazz, reggae, funk, soul, rock, rap and gospel and we have looked good doing it! If that were a musical category we'd never have that problem. CH has never had an unattractive lead vocalist, and I'll be damned, the musicians weren't too bad looking either!! LOL..

True enough, I can't say that I haven't had some tumultuous moments with my band, (had a fist fight once with an ex-band mate's ex husband), I've had vocalist show up for soundcheck and not show up for a show and of course the all too famous "oh man I forgot we had rehearsal" from almost everyone I've ever played with. That's just a small sampling of what I've gone through as I've evolved myself, from just a band leader to a BAND LEADER..

Through it all though, I have stayed steadfast and true to my desire; to have the coolest band in Houston. Along the way, not only has the band been considered the coolest but we've also had a large number of very descriptive terms used to describe us including funky, sexy, jammin and so on and so forth.

The lineup in Collective Hallucination has changed more than I care to remember, but one thing has remained constant; CH has always been about Just Good Music. That will never change.

As we celebrate 10 years and more I am personally looking forward to the future because the future is right here, right now.

So as the band continues to evolve and grow I can guarantee you CH will continue to give you the best we've got.

Musically,

Ant Boogie..
